A Poem by Benjamin Raphael (Part 4)

I need the inspiration that resulted in the creation of man, the inspiration that resulted in the creation of the oceans, the sky, sunsets, trees, every species that walks the Earth. I need the inspiration of the creation of every instrument that blesses our ears with beautiful tunes and peaceful sounds. The inspiration of every created language, every...

Ofcourse I remember. You would swear it happened yesterday, my memory would never betray me from trying to re-experience something so blissful. It was like a dream where you and I were in our own world. All it took was for you to look in my direction with the intention of trying to catch my eye. Success found you very early as I was on the exact same mission. Everything slowed down. I could see every letter of every word that surrounded me. I noticed every colour that mixed together to form another. I could hear my heartbeat as it attempted to communicate to me that I was seeing something special. It was you.

I remember you. Your hair walked with simplicity, but with a texture that stated you weren't from around. Your clothing danced on your behalf, making it hard not to catch ones attention. Your green coat moved quite slowly, but with such elegance that whispered what I was imagining, this is something close to royalty. It was clear to anybody blessed with vision that you were the pacifier between the calm nature of your coat and the feistiness of your boats. Your presence calmed the tide between the two, presenting such a harmony that not many would create. It was breathtaking.

And there slowly came your smile. You gathered the courage before I did to confirm your intentions with such a warm smile. Words will not be enough to explain what was seen. Any attempt would be dishonesty because such can't be explained even through metaphors. I pride myself on being a confident man, a man not afraid of encountering anything daunting, but that moment made me feel like a recently planted flower in the presence of a category four tropical cyclone. Caught in a trance, I somehow managed to return the confirmation of my intentions as you walked past. This is insanity.

Contemplating on the next steps, my eyes broke contact slowly touching the ground. "Okay Benjamin, don't be such a punk, yall are clearly on the same wavelength, just say hi, don't be a coward." Finally finding the courage to walk across towards our destined fate, I looked up, and you were gone... gone with the wind...

Maybe it is just my imagination. Maybe it was just a dream. Was it just a dream?
